FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: device contains a base for placing an object, a backlight, a depth camera located above the base, and a data processing device. The backlight is located in the base, which is a source of white, uniform light. In the method, the object is illuminated with a backlight located under the measurement area, the image from the depth camera is filtered, a cloud of points is formed, approximated, and converted into a 3D model in a data processing device. Filtering, forming, approximating, and converting the point cloud is carried out in several stages with varying degrees of backlight brightness. Binarized matrices are obtained from the finished frames and transferred to the decision-making module.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of measuring the linear dimensions of objects.
