FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of granular sorbent based on vermiculite used in the chemical and petrochemical industries as an adsorbent for removing hydrocarbons from aqueous solutions. In the method of producing a sorbent based on vermiculite for removing hydrocarbons from aqueous solutions, which consists of processing vermiculite, drying, moulding and calcining granules, according to the invention, processing of vermiculite is carried out by modifying its structure by mechanochemical activation for 5÷30 minutes in a roller-ring vibrating mill, from the resulting material a charge is prepared using the wet method with a humidity of 20÷25 wt.%, then granules are formed, the resulting granulate is dried 4÷4.5 hours at 70÷90°C and fed to the furnace for subsequent calcination at 400÷900°C for 4÷5 o'clock.
EFFECT: increase in the specific surface of the sorbent, an increase in adsorption capacity, an increase in the degree of extraction of petroleum products, and an increase in the mechanical strength of granules.
