FIELD: beverage preparation system.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a system for preparing a beverage from a capsule using a liquid supplied under pressure into the capsule, containing a device for preparing a beverage having a female element with a ring element having a free contact end, and a capsule containing a substance for preparing the beverage. The capsule contains a sealing element in the shape of a ledge, i.e. there is a sharp increase in the diameter of the side wall of the capsule. The sealing element includes a support portion extending across the engagement distance and a side wall portion extending in a direction away from the support portion. The support portion is arranged to be plastically pulled over the free contact end of the annular element if the female member of the beverage preparation device is closed by the capsule holder of the beverage preparation device.

EFFECT: provision a sealing element that is relatively simple to manufacture, that is environmentally friendly when the capsule is disposed of after use, and/or that provides a seal even in the presence of a female member whose free contact end is provided with radially extending open grooves.
