SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing cyclobutane represented by formula (1): where X1, X2, X3, X4, X5 and X6 are the same or different and represent a fluorine atom or a perfluoroalkyl group, the method including the reaction of cyclobutene, represented by formula (2): where X1, X2, X3, X4, X5 and X6 are defined above with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a catalyst in the gas phase, where the reaction of cyclobutene with hydrogen fluoride is a hydrogen fluoride addition reaction. The invention also relates to the use of a composition containing cyclobutene.

EFFECT: use of the present invention makes it possible to obtain cyclobutane with high selectivity.
