FIELD: beta-voltaic current source.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a beta-voltaic current source (BVCS) and a method for its manufacture. BVCS contains a beta radiation source 1, a beta radiation converter 2 and an energy storage device 3. The source (1) of beta radiation is placed on a converter (2) of beta radiation having a substrate made of a single crystal of diamond. The energy storage device (3) is made in the form of a supercapacitor, in which a non-woven material made of long carbon nanotubes is used as an electrode material, and a concentrated solution of sulphuric acid is used as an electrolyte. The method includes forming a beta radiation converter (2) and placing a beta radiation source (1) on top of it, forming an energy storage device (3) in the form of a supercapacitor, in which a non-woven material made of long carbon nanotubes is used as an electrode material. A concentrated solution of sulphuric acid is used as an electrolyte, and a source (1) of beta radiation and an energy storage device (3) are combined to form a BVCS.
EFFECT: more compact dimensions of the BVCS with an increase in the output current of the BVCS in an extended operating temperature range.
