FIELD: LED.

SUBSTANCE: method for measuring the threshold current of a LED, in which the watt-ampere characteristic of the LED is measured by measuring the power of the optical radiation of the LED Pk at several (at least 10) values of the electric current Ik at which the level of the photodetector signal is several times higher than the level of the dark signal. The watt-ampere characteristic Pk(Ik) obtained experimentally is approximated using the least squares method by a function of the form P(I)=A(I-Ithreshold)β, based on the approximation results, the calculated value of the Ithreshold of the approximating function is taken as the measured value of the threshold current of the LED.

EFFECT: eliminating the dependence of the measurement result of the LED threshold current on the characteristics of the photodetector and the accuracy of the optical alignment of the LED and photodetector during measurement.
