SUBSTANCE: lean mass, age and physical activity are determined. To determine the physical activity coefficient (MAC), the average number of steps taken is measured for at least three days: when the value obtained is < 6,000 MAC, a value of 1.0 is assigned; upon receiving a value of 6,000–7,499 MAC, a value of 1.18 is assigned; upon receiving a value of 7,500–12,000 MAC, a value of 1.35 is assigned; upon receiving a value of > 12,000 MAC, a value of 1.6 is assigned. Energy consumption is calculated using the original formula.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to determine with high accuracy daily energy expenditure in children with morbid obesity without the use of any indirect respiratory calorimetry, which avoids overestimation of daily energy expenditure when planning diet therapy, and also significantly increases the accessibility of the study.
