FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: transgenic construct for expression in the germ cell of a host bird has been proposed. This construct comprises (i) a first nucleotide sequence, wherein this first nucleotide sequence encodes an apoptosis-inducing enzyme, and this apoptosis-inducing enzyme is a caspase, and (ii) a second nucleotide sequence that targets this construct to avian germ cells, wherein this second nucleotide sequence targets the DAZL locus. Also a method is proposed for producing a surrogate host bird by modifying the germplasm of this bird using this construct, and a transgenic bird containing this construct and intended for use as a surrogate host bird.
EFFECT: invention provides selective destruction of germ cells of the host bird on demand without destroying other cells in the germ cell of the host bird and allows for highly efficient integration of donor germ cells.
