FIELD: authentication.

SUBSTANCE: methods for device authentication. The authenticated device and the authenticating device determine the composition of authentication factors and the permissible ranges of values of these factors, and the authentication factors include authenticating environmental factors and authentication factors, which are digital information previously communicated to the authenticating device and/or authentication factors, which are a physical object for authentication directly attached to the authenticating device, and/or authentication factors, which are biometric properties of the body of a person directly involved in authentication. The authenticated device requests from the authenticating device the current intervals of the values of the authentication factors used. The authenticated device transmits to the authenticating device the results of the initial processing of authentication factor values obtained from primary sources. The authenticating device performs secondary processing of the received results of primary processing and, based on the results of secondary processing, makes a decision on the success of authentication if the current value intervals coincide with the expected value intervals or makes a decision on authentication failure if the current value intervals do not coincide with the expected value intervals.

EFFECT: increasing the security of information by increasing the reliability of multi-factor authentication through the use of interval data on the state of the environment and the authenticating device.
