FIELD: pharmaceuticals.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the Bifidobacterium longum strain and its use. The following is proposed: a strain of Bifidobacterium longum NK46 KCCM12087P which suppresses the expression of p16 protein as an aging factor. An effective amount of the said strain, a heat-inactivated probiotic thereof, or a culture thereof is used in a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating memory impairment and learning disabilities or in a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing a mental disorder or in a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating an inflammatory disease. A food composition containing the specified strain, its heat-inactivated probiotic or its culture is also proposed. The following is also proposed: the use of compositions containing the said strain, a heat-inactivated probiotic thereof or a culture thereof for administration to a patient to prevent, alleviate or treat memory impairment and learning disabilities or to prevent, alleviate or treat a mental disorder or to prevent, alleviate or treat an inflammatory disease.
EFFECT: inventions provide memory restoration, reduce anxious behavior, and have the effect of inhibiting the inflammatory response.
