SUBSTANCE: aerosol generating device comprises an elongated container consisting of an inner wall and an outer wall, in which the inner wall defines an insertion space configured to accommodate an aerosol generating element, in which a chamber configured to store liquid is defined between the inner wall and the outer wall; a wick located at the end of the insertion space; a heater configured to heat the wick; a passage formed between the insertion space and the wick; and a sensor located adjacent to the insertion space and configured to obtain information about the colour of the aerosol generating element inserted into the insertion space.
