SUBSTANCE: following is proposed: a method of determining zinc in biological material as follows: the biological object is crushed, dried, mineralized by the method of dry ashing, the ash is treated with a concentrated solution of ammonium nitrate when heated, the resulting crystals are dissolved in hydrochloric acid, filtered, the interfering influences of other heavy metals are eliminated, a colored complex compound of zinc with an organic substance is obtained and the determination is carried out using a spectrophotometric method, characterized by the resulting crystals being dissolved in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid, filtered through an ash-free “white tape” filter, an aliquot of the prepared solution is applied to the starting line of a normal-phase TLC plate, the chromatography process is carried out using a two-component mobile phase, which is a mixture of hexane-acetic acid solvents in a ratio of 7:3 by volume, the sorbent from the absorption zone is thoroughly cleaned, avoiding loss of the sorbent, dissolved in a 0.5% ammonia solution, the mixture is shaken vigorously, filtered through an ash-free “white tape” filter, a solution of eriochrome black T prepared in a 0.5% ammonia solution is added to the filtrate, then the zinc in the sample is determined by the spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 557± 2 nm, corresponding to the maximum absorption of the eriochrome + zinc complex in a 0.5% ammonia solution, and the thickness of the absorbing layer is 1 cm.

EFFECT: increase in the detection percentage, as well as an increase in the accuracy and sensitivity of the determination of zinc in biological material when using publicly available equipment and cost-reduction method.
