FIELD:lighting units for vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: method for automating the control of vehicle headlights consists in first performing an initial adjustment of the beams of low and high beam headlights on a vehicle and registering in the low beam mode the distance of the far border of the road section illuminated by the headlights, and in the high beam mode - the near border. During road traffic, they automatically provide an overview of the road lane in front of the vehicle, and recognize the free mode of movement along the road lane based on the absence of a leader in front of the vehicle. Next, for the low beam mode, the removal of the far boundary is calculated, and for the high beam mode, the removal of the boundary of the illuminated section of the lane closest to the vehicle is calculated. Then the direction of the beams of low or high beams in the vertical plane is adjusted depending on the sign and value of the difference between the actual distance and the distance between the border of the illuminated section of the road recorded during the initial adjustment.
EFFECT: automatical adjustment of the orientation of the light beams of the headlights in the vertical plane in accordance with the relief in the profile of the road section in front of the vehicle.
