FIELD: nuclear industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in processes for localizing volatile fission products from exhaust gases at various high-temperature processing stages of irradiated nuclear fuel. The unit consists of two series-connected gas cleaning devices. The first device along the flow of the purified gas is equipped with a replaceable cartridge equipped with contact elements with an active layer made of a composition of aluminium and silicon oxides (30%γ-Al2O3 + 70% SiO2), as well as a thermally insulated electric furnace for heating the purified gas to a temperature of 800-900°C. The second is a replaceable cartridge equipped with contact elements with an active substrate made of γ-aluminium oxide and a sorption-active component – silver nitrate, as well as a thermally insulated electric furnace for heating the purified gas to a temperature of 150-200°C.
EFFECT: disposing caesium and iodine separately as solid radioactive waste.
