FIELD: rigid foam materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to production of rigid foam materials by heating polymers containing a blowing agent using a combination of thermal energy and microwave radiation. The method is carried out by foaming a polymer composition containing a blowing agent in a device consisting of a thermal heating means and a microwave radiation source, which in combination provide heating of the polymer composition to a temperature exceeding the glass transition temperature TgC. Moreover, the foamed polymer composition is moved relative to the microwave field, and before foaming, the temperature of the thermal heating means is no more than by 30°C lower than the glass transition temperature of the polymer TgP.
EFFECT: development of a cost-effective foaming method intended for producing rigid foam materials.
