SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to new types of foam materials based on PMMA, as well as to their production. Described is a method of producing polymethacrylate based foam material, characterized in that composition containing 0.01 to 2.0 wt % initiator, from 2 to 20 wt % of pore-forming agent and from 75 to 97.9 wt % of mixture of monomers, wherein said mixture of monomers consists of from 79.70 to 99.995 mol % MMA, 0 to 20 mol % of one or more MMA-copolymerisable monomers, from 0.002 to 0.5 mol % of cross-linking agent and from 0.003 to 1.5 mol % of polymerisation regulator, and from 0 to 80 wt % of polymer and/or oligomer can be present, is polymerised at temperature of 20 °C to 100 °C, and then foaming at 130 °C to 250 °C, wherein the degree of polymerisation regulator provides pentaerythritol tetrathioglycolate, 2-mercaptoethanol, alkylmercaptan, having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, thioglycolic acid, thioglycolate, γ-terpene or a mixture of two or more thereof. Also described is foam material based on PMMA.
EFFECT: technical result is increased foaming and level of mechanical strength of composition based on PMMA.
