FIELD: spacecraft equipment.
SUBSTANCE: regenerative physical and chemical life support systems for the crew of a spacecraft (SC) with a maximally closed cycle. The proposed system contains a unit for processing carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2), a unit for electrolytic decomposition of water, a battery and an H2 absorber with an intermetallic compound. Between the CO2 and H2 processing unit and the H2 absorber, a membrane module with filter elements is installed to separate H2 and feed it into the H2 absorber. This module is also connected to a CO2 adsorber, into which unreacted CO2 and carbon monoxide (CO) formed as a result of the reaction are sent. CO, having passed through the CO2 adsorber, is sent to the CO collection, with subsequent use in the spacecraft orbit correction engine, or is removed overboard, while the CO2 adsorber is connected to its concentrator.
EFFECT: maximum utilization of the initial reagents and final products, preventing the accumulation of excess CO2, eliminating the joint supply of unreacted CO2 and H2 and the resulting CO into the H2 absorber, obtaining ultra-pure H2 due to the separation of impurity gases.
