FIELD: leather industry.
SUBSTANCE: production of leather from chicken skins. The method of processing chicken skins includes soaking-degreasing in the presence of a proteolytic enzyme in an amount of 0.8-0.9% by weight of the raw material, then pickling is carried out in the presence of formic acid in an amount of 0.7% by weight of the raw material, followed by fleshing and tanning. Tanning is carried out first in the presence of a chrome tanning agent in an amount of 0.5% in terms of Cr2O3 by weight of the raw material for 2 hours, then quebracho and a fat composition are added in the amount of 8% and 5% by weight of the raw material, respectively, and the process is carried out for another 5 hours. As a fat composition, use a mixture of Pelgrassol SP 1/3 part and Kutopol TIS 2/3 parts in a 1:1 ratio with water.
EFFECT: shorter process, durable and elastic leather from chicken skins for manufacturing of leather goods, and environmental friendliness.
