SUBSTANCE: removal of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from a gas stream using selective catalytic reduction.
Method for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) in a gas source involves passing the gas over a catalyst suitable for selective catalytic reduction of the NOx contained in the presence of a reducing reagent. Said catalyst is a FER type zeolite catalyst produced by a process that does not include an iron loading step and does not include any transition metal loading step. Said FER type zeolite does not contain ion-exchanged iron and is not filled with iron or any transition metal. In this case, the term “transition metal” means any element of period 4, period 5, period 6 of the periodic system of elements. FER type zeolite has a Si/Al ratio ranging from 6 to 9. A catalyst intended for use as a NOx removal catalyst in a selective catalytic NOx reduction process is also claimed.
EFFECT: group of inventions ensures reduction of NOx content in gas.
