FIELD: pedestrian safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for increasing the safety of pedestrians at railway crossings. The method includes detecting pedestrians when approaching and staying in the area of the intersection of a railway track, processing the video stream of video surveillance devices, transmitting signals from detection and processing means to warning means, warning pedestrians using audio signals and light alarms, based on the analysis of the video data stream, capturing and isolating an image of a specific pedestrian based on characteristic features classified as factors of increased risk and decreased attention when crossing a railway track, identification of the selected image with at least one of the predetermined models of risky behaviour of a pedestrian, generation of an individual warning signal, targeted transmission of a warning signal to a pedestrian who has identified signs of risky behaviour.

EFFECT: improved safety and reduced risk of accidents and injuries to pedestrians at railway crossings.
