FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a kit and a method of studying the level of smell in humans. A kit for studying the level of smell in humans includes testers with butanol diluted in a concentration of 4% and two testers without butanol. Butanol testers are divided into five groups equal in number of testers. In the first group, the butanol concentration decreases sequentially from the tester with butanol to the tester with butanol by 1.5 times. In the second group, the concentration of butanol successively decreases by 2 times from the tester with butanol to the tester with butanol. In the third group, the butanol concentration decreases sequentially from the tester with butanol to the tester with butanol by 2.5 times. In the fourth group, the concentration of butanol decreases sequentially from the tester with butanol to the tester with butanol by 3 times. In the fifth group, the concentration of butanol decreases sequentially from the tester with butanol to the tester with butanol by 3.5 times. The method includes the use of the testers with butanol diluted in a concentration of 4%, and two testers without butanol. Testing is carried out alternately by five groups of testers, starting with the first, for each group as follows: testers with butanol and two testers without butanol are alternately brought at a distance of 2 cm from the tip of the nose, the patient is asked to determine which tester has the smell. The test is carried out twice with an interval between submissions of at least 30 seconds. At the first step of the test, groups of testers use a tester with butanol with a minimum concentration and two testers without butanol; when the patient gives the first incorrect answer, he is presented with a tester with a higher concentration and two testers without butanol; the first step of the test of the group of testers is completed with two correct answers in a row. At the second step of the test, test groups use a tester with butanol with a concentration lower than the concentration of the completed first test step of the test group and two testers without butanol and go in the direction of decreasing the concentration; with the first incorrect answer, the second test step of the test group is completed. At the third step of the test, groups of testers use a tester with butanol with a concentration higher than the concentration of the completed second step of the test group of testers and two testers without butanol, and go towards increasing the concentration, the third step of the test of the group of testers is completed with two consecutive correct answers. In the fourth step of the test, groups of testers use a tester with butanol with a concentration lower than the concentration of the completed third step of the test of the group of testers and two testers without butanol and go towards a lower concentration, with the first incorrect answer, the fourth step of the test of the group of testers is completed. At the fifth step of the test, groups of testers use a tester with butanol with a concentration higher than the concentration of the completed fourth step of the test of the group of testers and two testers without butanol and go towards increasing the concentration, the fifth step of the test of the group of testers is completed with two consecutive correct answers. At the sixth step of the test, groups of testers use a tester with butanol with a concentration lower than the concentration of the completed fifth step of the test of the group of testers and two testers without butanol and go towards a lower concentration; with the first incorrect answer, the test ends. In the seventh step of the test, test groups use a tester with butanol with a concentration higher than the concentration of the completed sixth test step of the test group and two testers without butanol and go towards increasing the concentration. The seventh step of the test group of testers ends with two consecutive correct answers, then the arithmetic mean of the last 4 steps is found, then the arithmetic mean of the results of 5 groups is calculated.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of the level of smell.
