FIELD: medical devices.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical devices for medicinal means delivery, in particular to implantable devices with homogeneous coating. A pre-compressed drug-delivery coated stent is mounted on a balloon. A method of applying a drug delivery coating to a pre-compressed stent mounted on a balloon includes compressing a stent block on the balloon block to form a pre-compressed stent. The stent unit contains spacer components with interconnected intermediate regions formed between the spacer components. Coating is applied to the outer surface of a pre-compressed stent mounted on a balloon while rotating the stent. Sections of the balloon block are exposed to the said coating to form a homogeneous cylindrical coating.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides a drug delivery device with an enlarged delivery area, which effectively delivers the drug to the entire vascular/artery lumen area, thereby preventing the occurrence of restenosis and uncontrolled cell growth.
