FIELD: medicine; anesthesiology; resuscitation.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to select the optimal tidal volume (TV) during general anesthesia in children aged 3 to 8 years. The initial setting of TV is 8–9 ml/kg. Then the level of CO2 in the exhaled air is measured. With normal and increased CO2 values, TV value is increased by 10 ml for 1 minute. The CO2 level is re-evaluated. When CO2 decreases, this TV is optimal and TV is not increased. If the elevated CO2 level remains, TV is increased by another 10 ml and the CO2 level is assessed. A stepwise increase in the TV value by 10 ml is performed until the level of CO2 in the exhaled air decreases below 45 mm Hg.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to accurately select the physiological value of TV, ensuring the removal of CO2 in accordance with its formation in the body.
