FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns the composition of acrylic radiopaque self-hardening cement, intended for use in orthopedic and vertebrological surgery for the purpose of cementation and fixation of bone, as well as for fixation of pathological fractures of the vertebral body during the procedure of vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty. The proposed bone cement for orthopedic and vertebrological surgery contains powder and liquid in a ratio of 2: 1 parts by weight. The powder contains, wt.%: 15–54.3 of polyethyl methacrylate; 15.0–40.0 of strontium-substituted hydroxyapatite; 0.7–3.0 of benzoyl peroxide; the rest is polymethyl methacrylate. The liquid contains, wt.%: 14–84.5 of ethyl methacrylate monomer; 0.5–1.5 of N,N-bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-para-toluidine; the rest is monomer methyl methacrylate.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of radiopaque acrylic bone cements having a maximum cement polymerization temperature below 60°C while maintaining sufficient strength and elasticity of the material.
