FIELD: experimental medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to simulate acute radiation sickness (ARS) in experiments. Experimental animals are placed in individual containers. Containers with experimental animals are placed between plates of a solid-state water-equivalent phantom measuring 30x30 cm2, height 1 cm and density 1.032 g/cm3. The volume of irradiation is modelled based on the size of containers, which are assigned a density of 1 g/cm3, and plates of a solid-state water-equivalent phantom. After this, experimental animals are irradiated once using the Elekta Precise accelerator in doses of 8 to 9 Gy at a dose rate of 4.2 Gy/min.
EFFECT: method provides modelling of development of the clinical symptoms of ARS and allows reproducing the results obtained during irradiation through the use of plates of a solid-state water-equivalent phantom.
