FIELD: electrodes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce joints made of structural and stainless steels, for example, tanks and containers, by manual arc welding. The composite electrode contains two metal rods fastened together and contacting each other along the entire length with coating removed along the line of their contact, the composition of each of which separately ensures welding of the corresponding dissimilar steel. The metal rods of the electrodes are fastened to each other using adhesive waterproof tape. Strips of aluminium and/or copper foil with a width of no more than half the perimeter of coverage of both electrodes and a length of no more than the length of the coating applied to them are glued to the inside of the tape.

EFFECT: composite electrode provides high moisture resistance, the possibility of additional alloying of the weld with one or more components, as well as reducing the resistance of the stainless part of the composite electrode by means of a foil made of electrically conductive material.
