FIELD: production of steel.

SUBSTANCE: steel production method involves producing a pellet containing iron ore in the form of particles and from 0.05 wt.% up to 1.0 wt.% of a polymeric organic binder, said binder containing polyvinyl alcohol and an organic resin, transporting the pellet to an electric arc furnace and producing steel by heating the pellet in a reducing atmosphere in an electric arc furnace. The organic resin is selected from polyacrylamide resin, resol resin and novolac resin. The reducing atmosphere contains hydrogen, shale gas or natural gas.

EFFECT: ensures effective reaction of the pellet with a reducing atmosphere, melting and uniform dispersion of particles in the molten metal.
