FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: moulded powdered pellets containing iron oxide and carbon are heated and recovered in rotary-hearth kiln. Note here that pellets are produced using stock wherein mean diameter of iron oxide particles makes 50 mcm or smaller. Note here that carbon oxide-to-carbon dioxide ratio in recovery zone is kept varying from 0.3 to 1. Recovery is conducted at 1400°C or lower to produce recovered iron-containing pellets with iron schooping of 50-85% and fractions of residual carbon of 2% or less.

EFFECT: optimum porosity, strength and schooping degree, reduced power consumption.
