FIELD: measuring technology.

SUBSTANCE: method for diagnosing cash cassettes. The method is performed by a computing device. When implementing the method, a command is received to carry out diagnostics of the cash cassette, data is collected on the state of the optical sensors located in the cash cassette, and the presence of communication with them is determined. Next, determine the state of the sensor for controlling the pressure of the carriage to the clutches. If the sensor is in the open state, then a command is sent to the electric motor to lift the carriage as high as possible and activate the sensor. If the sensor is in the closed state, then the computing device proceeds to the next stage, which consists in interrogating the optical sensors located in the cash cassette and comparing data on the state of the sensors with reference data characterizing the states of these sensors when the carriage is in the highest position, to determine correctness of their operation. The reference data is determined by the computing device based on the cassette type data retrieved from the cassette memory.

EFFECT: expanding functionality by providing the ability to diagnose optical sensors installed in the cash cassette and increasing the diagnostic speed.
