FIELD: veterinary medicine; obstetrics.
SUBSTANCE: based on the radiography performed in frontal and lateral projection, the presence of synostosis of the body of the sacral bone and the first caudal vertebra is established. The indicators of the biparietal diameter of the skull in fetuses in the gestational period from 45 days before birth are determined as the distance between the parietal bones from the outer surface of their upper contour to the inner surface of the lower contour. An angulometric indicator reflecting the position of the uterus in relation to the longitudinal axis of the birth canal is calculated. Presence of synostosis of the body of the sacral bone and the first caudal vertebra, angulometric value 45± 1.5° with a simultaneous value of biparietal skull diameter of 24.1–25.3 mm is a prognostic criterion for dystocia in French bulldogs.
EFFECT: method is available for clinical use, is easy to perform, eliminates subjective assessment, allows to determine the risk of developing dystocia in French bulldogs and determine the indications for cesarean section.
