FIELD: production of products for animals.

SUBSTANCE: proposed edible chewable product for animals contains from 8 to 60 wt.% partially hydrolyzed collagen and from 1 to 25 wt.% alkyl succinate-modified starch. Moreover, the edible chewing product for animals has a tensile viscosity of more than 200 MPa. A method of producing the said edible chewable product for animals is also proposed. The method includes preparing an edible chewable product composition containing partially hydrolyzed collagen and alkyl succinate-modified starch; heating the edible chewable product composition to obtain a flowable edible chewable product composition; extruding a flowable edible chew product composition to form an extrudate and causing the extrudate to cool and solidify to form an edible chew product for animals.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at producing an edible chewable product that is chew-resistant and lasts longer, provides increased oral care performance and enhances the chewing experience for the animal.
