FIELD: fire-fighting technology.

SUBSTANCE: fire smothering means that can be used to suppress fires in closed spaces. The aerosol-forming pyrotechnic composition for fire smothering contains potassium nitrate, ammonium iodide, thiourea, and urotropine. It contains rosin as a non-toxic binder, with the following ratio of components, wt.%: potassium nitrate 69-71, rosin 4-6, ammonium iodide 14-16, thiourea 4-6, methenamine 4-6.

EFFECT: environmental and biological safety, achievement of a fire extinguishing concentration of active combustion inhibitors in the protected volume that interrupt oxidation chain reactions, and, consequently, effective fire suppression.
