SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of cast iron and steel smelting and can be used to control the distribution of powdered material during its sintering in a sintering system, which includes a drum feeder, a roller-type distribution device having an auxiliary shutter, and a sintering cart, wherein the drum feeder is made with the ability to supply the mixed material to the said distribution device, which is configured to supply the material to the sintering car. The proposed system and control method are based on predicting the thickness of the material layer, in which the values of the bulk density of the mixed material, the drum rotation speed, the distribution roller rotation speed, the degree of opening of the auxiliary gate and the speed of the sintering cart are determined. The characteristic value of the material layer thickness is generated using a predefined dynamic model. The material layer thickness deviation value is calculated in accordance with the predicted layer thickness value and the target layer thickness value. The deviation value is entered into the optimization model to obtain the values of the drum rotation speed, distribution roller rotation speed, auxiliary gate opening degree and sintering car speed to be adjusted.
