FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing glycidol, which is an intermediate in the production of various epoxy compounds, as well as an important raw material for the production of polyglycerol, glycerol ester, dihydroxypropylamine, UV hardener for perfumes and cosmetics, detergents, drugs, coatings and semiconductors. The method involves the interaction of glycerol and dimethyl carbonate in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, which uses ZIF-90 zeolite-like imidazolate framework formed by the Zn(II) cation and imidazole-2-carboxyaldehyde, in an amount of 7.9–10.0 wt.% based on the weight of loaded glycerine. The process is carried out at a temperature of 100–120°C and molar ratio of glycerol:dimethyl carbonate 1:2.

EFFECT: achievement of process selectivity for glycidol — 81.2–93.7% and glycidol yield of 70.6–82.1%.
