FIELD: production of hydrogen.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing hydrogen involves creating conditions for contacting water vapor and metallic iron at high temperatures. Double oxide powder of the composition SrFe12O19 is used as the initial reagent, taken in an amount of 0.03-0.05 g/cm2, with a particle size of 1-5 microns, with a uniform distribution of the powder over the reaction surface. Variable supply of water vapor is provided until the partial pressure of oxygen is stabilized at the maximum level, and methane is supplied until the partial pressure of oxygen is stabilized at the minimum level. At the initial stage, methane is supplied. The redox process is cycled with preheating of the reaction zone to a temperature of 850-950°C with heating rate 5-10°/min using one reactor. The gas leaving the reactor, comprising hydrogen and unreacted water vapor, is passed through a water vapor condenser to remove them from the mixture.
EFFECT: simplified production of hydrogen and high stability in hydrogen yield during cycling.
