METHOD OF PERFORMING CONTINUOUS SUTURE IN VESTIBULOPLASTY Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B17/24 

FIELD: medicine; surgical dentistry.

SUBSTANCE: first injection of a needle and thread is carried out through the apically displaced mucomuscular flap from its outer side, moving away from the edge of the flap. The second injection of the needle is made into the periosteum, and the needle and thread are passed horizontally through the subperiosteal space. The needle and thread are removed from the subperiosteal space by inserting the needle into the inner surface of the periosteum, while the first point of needle insertion, located at the edge of the apically displaced flap, is projected to the middle of the distance between the points of insertion and removal of the thread from under the subperiosteal space. The first injection of the needle from the outer and inner sides is repeated every 5–6 mm. On the outer side of the apically displaced mucomuscular flap, a needle and thread are pulled out at the initial and final stitches of a continuous suture and the formation of fixation of a continuous surgical suture at two points using 3 knots is performed by 3 turns of the thread around the jaws of the needle holder.

EFFECT: method increases the effectiveness of treatment, reduces the duration of surgical intervention, prevents migration of the edge of the apically displaced flap to the apical side, which ultimately increases the stability of the result of plastic surgery, reduces the risk of complications in the postoperative period due to better adaptation of the compared surfaces of the surgical wound and accurate reconstruction anatomical features of the vestibule of the oral cavity.
