FIELD: beamforming antenna systems.
SUBSTANCE: reception processing system can process the signals of the feed elements in accordance with several sets of beam weights, each of them corresponding to a beam coverage diagram comprising one or more beams of radar image pixels to generate a plurality of beam signals. The irradiation element signals may be signal energy from a reflected illumination signal or energy from a passively received signal. Several sets of beam signals resulting from processing of the irradiation element signals can then be processed to obtain image pixel values, and the image pixel values are combined to obtain an image. Several sets of irradiating element signals (each corresponding to a time period, for example) can be processed and combined to form an image.
EFFECT: formation of an image of a multistatic synthetic aperture radar from a system that supports beamforming of received signals.
