FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to hand tools for tying reinforcing bars. The strapping machine includes a wire feeding unit, a bend forming unit, a joining part, a cutting unit and a strapping unit. The strapping unit includes a rotating shaft, a wire engaging body, a rotation control portion, and a tension application portion. The wire engaging body is configured to move in the axial direction of the rotating shaft and engage the wire in the first working area in the axial direction of the rotating shaft and is configured to move in the axial direction of the rotating shaft and twist the wire by rotation together with the rotating shaft in the second working area in the axial direction of the rotating shaft. The rotation control part is configured to control the rotation of the housing to engage the wire.
EFFECT: tension application portion is configured to perform in the second work area the operations of applying tension and releasing the applied tension for a wire engaged by the wire engagement body in the first work area.
