FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to methods of chemical and thermal treatment of alloy steel parts, and can be used in mechanical engineering for surface hardening of machine parts, including parts operating in friction pairs, gears and rotors of pumps and engines. The method includes placing the part in the working chamber, activating the surface of the part before nitriding by forming an ultra-fine-grained structure in its surface layer, supplying a working saturating medium to the chamber, heating the part to the nitriding temperature and holding at this temperature until the required thickness of the nitrided layer is formed, while activating the surface parts before nitriding are carried out in two stages, at the first stage the formation of the surface layer of the part with the mentioned ultra-fine-grained structure is carried out, and then at the second stage of activation, magnetic pulse processing is carried out, ensuring the healing of microcracks in the mentioned formed surface layer, and before the formation of the surface layer with an ultra-fine-grained structure to a depth exceeding 10 to 30% of the thickness of the layer with an ultrafine-grained structure, a surface layer with a micro-grained structure is formed.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency and quality of the nitriding process, as well as an increase in the wear resistance of the nitrided layer of parts made of alloy steels.
