FIELD: chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of producing esters of carboxylic acids by esterification of carboxylic acids and/or transesterification of esters of carboxylic acids in oils and fats with simple C1-C5 alcohols. Methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, n-butanol, isobutanol, n-pentanol, isopentanol or mixtures thereof are used as alcohol. The production method is characterized by the process performed at a temperature of the reaction mass from 100 to 150°C in the presence of an acid catalyst for 1 to 12 hours and a molar ratio of alcohols to oils and fats from 1:1 to 3:1, the supply of alcohol into the volume of the reaction mass is carried out portionwise and evenly throughout the entire reaction time.

EFFECT: provision of a method of producing target esters suitable for raw materials from vegetable oils based on glycerides of fatty acids, fats and soap stocks with any content of free fatty acids and water and alcohols with a mass fraction of water up to 20% and allowing to achieve a conversion of over 90%.
