SUBSTANCE: fan is described, with the help of which the volume flow and/or mass flow of the medium moved by the fan (1) can be determined. This fan includes an electric motor (2) and an impeller (3) driven by this electric motor (2), and this impeller (3) moves a gaseous medium in the medium flow from the inflow side (5) to the outflow side (7). The fan additionally includes a pressure sensor system, a rotation speed detection system and an evaluation unit. The pressure sensor system is designed to find the actual difference (Δp*) pressure between the first area (10) and the second area (13), while the first area (10) and/or the second area (13) is/are made in the electric motor (2), while in the first area (10) the pressure (pA), which corresponds to the pressure (p1), available on the inflow side, while in the second region (13) there is a pressure (pB), which corresponds to the pressure (p2), available on the outflow side. The rotation speed determination system is designed to find the actual rotation speed (n) of the impeller (3). Finally, the estimation block is performed so that, based on the actual difference (Δp*) pressures, actual rotation speed (n) and pressure characteristic line of the fan (1) quantify the mass flow and/or volumetric flow of the medium. Next, a motor for this fan and a corresponding method are disclosed.
