SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, particularly to a method of producing a compound of general formula: , where R is selected from: , , , , . Method is carried out by treating 5,8-dimethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxycoumarin of formula A with lead tetraacetate, and then with excess HCl/iPrOH, followed by catalytic hydrogenation of the obtained dihydroxycoumarin of formula B in a hydrogen atmosphere to obtain 6,7-dihydroxy-5,8-dimethoxychroman-2-one (C), according to the scheme:

Hydrolysis of the compound of formula C is then carried out, followed by oxidation of air with oxygen and obtaining 5,8-dimethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxycoumarin derivatives.

EFFECT: synthesis of 5,8-dimethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxycoumarin derivatives exhibiting antiradical activity.
