FIELD: varistor.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the control of the resource of the varistor. Essence: the value of the current flowing through the varistor is determined, the resistance of the varistor is determined by the value of the current flowing through the varistor. The energy absorbed by the varistor is determined by integrating over time the square of the current flowing through the varistor multiplied by the value of the resistance of the varistor, or by integrating over time the amount of current flowing through the varistor multiplied by the voltage across the varistor. The varistor resource control device, which implements the varistor control method, comprises a current sensor, an analogue-to-digital converter and a computing device configured to estimate the varistor resource.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy of estimating the depleted and/or residual life of the varistor.
