FIELD: heat exchange.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a structured packing element with intersecting channels for a column intended for mass exchange and/or heat exchange between heavy and light fluid phases. Technical result is achieved in a structured packing element with intersecting channels, which includes two adjacent layers made of expanded metal sheets, in each of which there are holes, which are surrounded by separating elements. At that, two of the two layers are located in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle in parallel in contact with each other so that an open space is formed between them, extending from one end to the opposite end. Ratio between the average width of 50% of the separating elements between adjacent holes and the thickness of the sheet material is at least 15. Ratio between maximum distance between two of two layers, measured in plane perpendicular to longitudinal direction, and average width of separating elements is at least 4. Ratio between the distance between two holes adjacent to the separating element in the direction perpendicular to the expanded metal sheet stretching direction, and average width of this separating element for 50% of all separating elements is from 4 to 6.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of mass exchange at the given capacity or increase of capacity at the given efficiency of mass exchange or reduction of weight at the given mass exchange efficiency.
