FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to use of a composition containing branched side chain amino acids (BCCA): L-leucine, L-valine and L-isoleucine in combination with L-alanine, for preventing, improving and/or treating muscular atrophy associated with the following: iv) pathological conditions; v) age-related conditions or vi) malnutrition, immobility or starvation, where the weight ratio of L-leucine:L-valine:L-isoleucine:L-alanine is 2:1:1:2.
EFFECT: present invention provides a synergistic effect between a combination of L-leucine, L-valine and L-isoleucine with L-alanine in ratio of 2:1:1:2, with significant improvement of neuromuscular function in comparison with control or combination of the same amino acids in different weight ratios.
