SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a composition for improving muscle function, structure and metabolism, containing branched side chain amino acids (BCCA) L-leucine, L-valine and L-isoleucine in combination with peptide L-alanyl-L-alanine, where the weight ratio of L-leucine:L-valine:L-isoleucine:L-alanyl-L-alanine is between 2:1:1:1 and 2:1:1:3.6, also relates to the use of the composition for prevention, relieving and/or treating muscle wasting associated with the following: i) pathological conditions, including neuromuscular degenerative disorders, such as muscular dystrophy or muscular atrophy; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; cancer-related cachexia; diabetes; renal failure; heart failure; Cushing's syndrome; sepsis; burn injuries; uraemia; liver cirrhosis and AIDS; ii) an age-related condition including sarcopenia; or iii) malnutrition, immobility or starvation, and also relates to the use of the composition for improving muscle performance, and/or recovery, and/or to reduce muscle fatigue before, after or during physical exercises.
