FIELD: space technology.
SUBSTANCE: to control the infrared vertical (IRV) sensor with automatic adjustment of the circular scanning angle, the orientation of the sensor in the orbital coordinate system and the automatic adjustment of the scanning angle of the pyramid of mirrors are performed after the Earth's radiation enters the field of view of the IRV sensor from the pre-set maximum angular position of the pyramid of mirrors and after reducing the deviation signal of the viewing axis of the IRV sensor from the local the Earth's vertical is less than a threshold value during a measured time interval equal to the predicted duration for changing the scanning angle from the maximum to the current angular size of the Earth's disk.
EFFECT: reduction in the duration of adjustment of the output characteristics of the sensor to nominal values and, as a consequence, a reduction in the consumption of the working fluid and the duration of constructing a triaxial orientation to the Earth.
