FIELD: medicine; clinical neurosurgery; neurotraumatology.
SUBSTANCE: intensity of fluctuations in intracranial pressure (ICP) is recorded during the period of the respiratory wave. ICP and ICP pulse wave amplitude are measured before and after an abrupt change in the volume of contents of the intracranial space by 1 ml. These measurements are carried out separately on the positive and negative respiratory half-waves. Next, the magnitude of the change in the volume of intracranial contents at the pulse frequency on the positive and negative respiratory half-waves is calculated. After this, brain compliance (BC) is calculated using these half-waves according to the claim.
EFFECT: method allows to increase the accuracy of BC assessment.
