using a protective reagent for a hydroxy group in the presence of an acid-binding agent, to obtain a monohydroxy-protected compound, wherein the protective reagent for hydroxy groups is p-toluenesulphonyl chloride and 1-hydroxybenzotriazole, and successively carrying out a nitration reaction and a deprotection reaction with the monohydroxy-protected compound to obtain a nitrated intermediate.

EFFECT: development of a method of producing a magnolol derivative and a honokiol derivative with improved selectivity using a simplified procedure, suitable for production on an industrial scale.
