FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for denudation of the lumen of the body cavity, in particular the superficial vein. The device (1, 30, 40, 50, 60) for denudation of a vein contains a head (3) for denudation of a vein, operatively attached to an elongated catheter element (2) and configured for transluminal delivery and deployment in the vein. The vein denudation head comprises a helical coil (4) that is self-adjustable from an uncoiled delivery configuration suitable for transluminal delivery within the catheter element, and a coiled, unfolded configuration that circumferentially contacts the interior lumen of the vein when deployed. The helical coil has an outer contact surface with the lumen of the body cavity that is roughened to shear or permanently damage the internal lining of the lumen of the body cavity for circular denudation of the internal cavity as the coil moves axially along the lumen of the body cavity in a twisted unfolded configuration. The helical coil in the deployed configuration is designed to self-adjust to the changing diameter of the vein as it moves along the vein. The outer surface of the coil contains grooves that provide surface roughness. In accordance with the second version of the device, the helical coil (4) contains lateral teeth and in a twisted deployed configuration has a diameter greater than the vein to be denuded. In accordance with the third version of the device, the helical coil (4) is characterized by a flat inner and outer surface and lateral teeth. According to a fourth embodiment of the device, the helical coil (4) or each element of the coil contains a conductor wire, and the abrasive surface is formed by a second wire wound in a coil around the conductor wire to form a second coil.
EFFECT: invention addresses the need to obtain a device for the treatment of superficial venous reflux that avoids the problems associated with prior art thermal, chemical and adhesive implant treatment methods while providing best-in-class effectiveness compared to thermal options.
